INTRODUCTION
With the advent of multiple communication channels and increasing awareness of cultural and linguistic diversity in the world, a broader perspective for teaching and learning of a second or a foreign language is necessary.
Today’s global dissemination of information and the spread of new telecommunications and information technologies require a paradigm shift in instruction. The teaching and learning process is moving away from the traditional framework to one that is more technologically challenging.
As teachers, administrators, curriculum developers and other key players in the teaching and learning of second/foreign languages, it is crucial that we are aware of the latest developments in language teaching and learning and to equip ourselves with the techniques and approaches that are in synchrony with the new millennium.
